Our Coffee Bar
I am a coffee snob.
There. I said it.
So when I finally convinced Jerry to let me remove this wonky lonely cabinet in our kitchen, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. Our kitchen desperately needed a coffee bar. Maybe “needed” is a poor choice of words considering I’m the only one in our household that drinks coffee, but hey. Wifey gets what wifey wants.
See what I mean? This cabinet was weird. Also, yes, Penelope is allowed to be on the counters. Resistance is futile and I have just accepted the fact that I need to disinfect the countertops twice a day.
Originally, we kept wine glasses in this cabinet, but after some careful editing and reorganizing, I realized it truly wasn’t necessary, so Jerry and our friend Daniel got to work removing it. I was so relieved that there was no wall damage, so all we had to do was re-paint the spot the cabinet used to be.
I fell in love with the shelving unit that is replacing the cabinet immediately. In fact, I had seen it at another retailer, but when I came across it on Amazon for under $100, I knew I had to snag it. The industrial look of it is so Jerry’s style, while the minimalism of it paired with some homey and girly details is all me. She’s perfect and I love her.
I’ll admit I had ulterior motives for installing the shelving. My mom and I have been collecting Rae Dunn pottery for the last few months and I was searching everywhere for a cute way to display it. Underneath lies all my coffee essentials. I found this little tray at Walmart for $7! It’s the perfect size for holding the Keurig, my syrups, my Rae Dunn sugar and creamers, as well as my Rae Dunn coffee canister, and my apothecary jar of marshmallows (which is obviously the best way to top off a hot cup of coffee).
