Cajun Pasta
Making dinner suuuuucccckkkss. I legitimately hate it. The planning, the ingredients, and it never fails that I forget something and have to send my husband to the store. (Last night, it was parmesan cheese that I forgot lol). But, it’s all worth it when dinner is actually delicious and the whole family is fed and happy. Here’s an easy recipe that tastes like it took way longer to make than it actually did.
Ingredients:
3 Tbs butter
14 oz of smoked sausage (we use Hillshire Farms)
1 Cup chicken broth
1 Cup heavy cream
3/4 Cup shredded parmesan
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbs cajun seasoning
1 Tbs garlic salt
8 oz penne pasta
Start by cooking penne pasta according to the package directions. Melt 1 Tbs of butter in a large saute pan and brown sausage about 2-3 minutes on each side. Once browned, remove and set aside. Add remaining 2 Tbs of butter to saute pan over medium heat. Once melted, add in heavy cream, chicken broth, and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a boil. Add cajun seasoning as garlic salt. Once incorporated, add parmesan cheese a little at a time and whisk constantly for about 3 minutes. I recently learned this helps to keep it from all melting into a ball. Once sauce has thickened up and all the cheese is melted in, add sausage back in and reduce heat to low. Let the sausage hang out in the sauce for about 3 minutes to warm them back up. Pour sauce and sausage over cooked pasta and enjoy!
