DIY Easter Decor: PEEPS Centerpieces and Topiaries

DIY Easter Decor: PEEPS Centerpieces and Topiaries

PEEPS® aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. So let’s put them to good use by using them as decor!

I made these little PEEPS® Centerpieces to decorate our buffet table with this coming weekend for Easter brunch and I’m so glad I did them early because they look so stinkin’ cute. They were also crazy easy and fairly cheap to throw together.

Supplies:

  • 2 Styrofoam Floral Cones: I used one 11.875” x 3.938” and one 17.875” x 4.938”. found them at Michael’s and they were $5.39 and $9.39 respectively (don’t forget to use your coupons!)

  • 2 Different Colors of Spray Paint

  • 10 Packs of Bunny PEEPS® in colors of your choice (I used 4 packs of yellow for the smaller tower and 6 packs of purple for the larger one- they were $1,50/ pack at my local Smith’s, I believe.)

  • Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks (I went through 5 mini sticks for this project)

I started by spray painting the cones their respective colors. I jumped the gun a little bit and spray painted the taller cone blue before realizing my grocery store only had purple bunny PEEPS®…womp womp womp. Luckily, not a lot of the color ended up showing through, so no harm no foul! Once the cones were dry, I just started gluing PEEPS® to it starting at the base.

The trick is not to separate the PEEPS® from their rows. They come stuck together in rows of 4 and gluing them on as one unit saves a lot of time. Luckily, because the marshmallow is so squishy, they maneuver around the cone easily and snap back into shape even after you press them firmly against the styrofoam to ensure a good glue seal.

If you watched my Instagram story, you know that I bought WAY too many yellow PEEPS® the first time around and had to return 7 packs…oops.

This project probably took a total of 45 minutes and makes such an adorable centerpiece for your Easter table. Since I have a week to enjoy them, I decided to do just that with them and this weekend, they’ll decorate my Easter buffet table.

While I was on the PEEPS® train, I decided to create a few PEEPS® topiaries for my front yard too. I will have about 10 children at my house for Easter, so I really want it to look fun and festive. After all… there is a rumor going around that The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance…

I wonder how high up on the “Weird Things My Wife Has Forced My To Do” list free-handing giant PEEPS® is for my poor husband. But he’s a trooper and not only drew them for me, but also took over cutting them out after I complained that my hand hurt. I would really recommend using an x-acto knife instead of a pocket knife- our edges are a little more jagged than I’d like. I also wouldn’t recommend cutting them out on your BRAND NEW FLOOR THAT IS LITERALLY LESS THAN A YEAR OLD but ya know…whatever.

But he’s so dang cute that he’s forgiven ;)

I then spray painted it aaaand sadly ran out of paint towards the bottom. Oh well! It’ll be tucked in a bush anyway. Craft projects are pretty much a constant stream of “oopsies” for me. I then traced a can for the perfect circle eyes and nose (pro-tip: Truly vodka soda cans are the perfect size). with a Sharpie and then filled it in with black acrylic paint.

I think they came out so cute and since I had all the supplies on hand besides the foam board, it only ended up costing me $6. Not too shabby!
