Grayson's One Happy Camper Birthday Party
It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was preparing to be induced and today I am looking back over the photos from my baby’s first birthday party last weekend. We never got to have a “real” baby shower for him, due to Covid - although my mom put on a really beautiful drive thru shower for me- so I really wanted to go over the top for his first birthday. It was so much fun and I have to say, I LOVE party planning. I may be a bit awkward at party-attending, but planning is my jam!
Do toddlers need place settings? Probably not, but I have been having so much fun with my Cricut I just couldn’t help myself. I used my Cricut Joy to put each child’s name on one of these wood rounds and I LOVED how they came out. I bought a set of wood-look disposable plates, cups and napkins and mixed them with some plain black cake plates for a little contrast. The Bear cups were a bit of an impulse buy, but I just thought they were so stinkin cute! I added some baby’s breath in mason jars for a bit of a pretty woodsy feel and rented high chairs for all the baby’s that would need them.
The food table was my masterpiece. I wanted it to be a showstopper and a centerpiece for the party. I wanted it to feel warm and welcoming and encourage everyone to eat, drink, and be merry. I had decided at the last minute that I wanted a second balloon arch after I had already placed an order with AliBalloon, so I decided to attempt to make one myself. I bought this table balloon arch kit from Amazon and I was so impressed at how easy it was to put together. Morgan and I made it in my living room and then semi-disassembled it to load into her truck for transport. Between Mo and her boyfriend, Will it came together perfectly on the day of the party.
The Camp Grayson sign was custom made by an incredibly talented engineer who took my design and re-worked it to make it work in a wood round. The turnaround time was stellar and I still can’t get over how beautiful it looks. It’ll actually make a great piece of decor for his room now too!
For food, I bought 2 Costco party trays (delish!) and put the croissant sandwiches and turkey wraps on this beautiful wooden ladder tray. I was so glad I snagged that tray. It’s comes together in seconds and I know I’ll get a ton of use out of it for other parties. My mom made both a green salad and a fruit salad and I added bags of chips and the most beautiful cookies from Biggest Little Cookie Co.
Gray’s cake topper was also custom made and I am blown away at the quality. It’ll make such a sweet keepsake! Below his cake, were rose of white cupcakes that I added wood-look wraps to and little tree cupcake toppers (which unfortunately aren’t pictured). His smash cake was made by Totally Baked Reno. I came to her with the idea of doing a birch tree cake and man oh man did she deliver. I was blown away, and clearly Grayson was too….
I had a ton of ideas for favors and I think if I had been left to my own devices the kids would have been walking out of there with custom tents or something hahaha. I didn’t want to load up the kids with (more) sugar) or toys that were loud. Their parents are my friends and I’d like to keep them, after all. I finally settled on a Trail Mix Bar where guests could create their own custom blend of trail mix from almonds, pretzels, M&Ms, pistachios, banana chips, and dried cranberries. The mix could be put into these sweet little critter boxes and to make sure they had all the provisions they’d need for camping, I also included Camp Grayson canteens- another Cricut project.
The Favor table was framed by the most beautiful sage green, white, and gold balloon arch from AliBalloons.
I’m still on cloud nine thinking about how much love we received over the weekend. Not just for Baby G, but for our whole family. Our friends and family showered G with so much love, attention, and presents and I can’t think of a little boy who deserves it more. It was the perfect day!
